Dear storytellers
It is now confirmed that 35 organisers, representatives and storytellers are
coming from Bulgary, Canada, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France,
Holland,
Norway, Polen, Scottland, Switzerland, Sweden, and Germany to the meeting in
Oslo 14th 16th of august. There might be more if confirmations are done
before June 25th.
FINANCES
Oslo University College did not support this meeting financially, but gives
us free localities for arranging these days. On the other hand we have
received support from Nordic cultural fund to support some of the
participants travel, food and staying. There is not support for all. But
those who are representatives for national/regional organisations or who are
involved in creating a national or transnational interestorganisation, and
who definitely need financially support to be able to attend must send me an
email. so we can see the balance between what we got and what is needed.
PROGRAM
Last week Mats Rehnman, Abbi Patrix and I had a meeting in Paris to plan
these three days. As there is a "lot of" people coming we decided to have a
²demokratic day² all through Thursday 14th, starting at 10 in the morning.
There will be at least thirteen countries and three transnational
interestgroups to be presented. This will be a day of talking, telling and
sharing. We wish each group to agree on how to tell us all about the life of
storytelling in your country, to share the flavour, activities and
happenings of storytelling in Europe. There will also be excitements, short
excercises, stories that add to the picture of the countries. On the 15th
and 16th we will work specific on creating FEST. A more precise plan will be
given as soon as we have the final list of participants.
REPORT FROM FRANCE AND SWITZERLAND
In France there was also arranged a meeting between storytellers from
Denmark, France, Norway and Sweden. Here the idea of FEST was tested out and
critical points were discussed. (Language and dominance of north Europe
coming to FEST). One important thing was concluded the importance of
communidation. It is important that the idea is spoken and talked about, so
that nobody feels excluded. During the meeting, we received the good news
that the storytellers in Switzerland now has organized themselves and are
sending representatives to Oslo. And when I got back from France I received
the good news that there has never been so many applicants to the
storytellings studies at the Oslo University College as now, there are long
waitings lists. Maybe we are going into the golden area????
WEBSITE
By the way, there is a dutch storyteller, Wim Wolbrink, who has reserved the
perfect adress for FEST. Have a look: www.storytelling.eu

need to set a deadline to have a progress in the planning. Some has

We will try to keep the cost as low as possible. Probably there will be

142 EUR each day for staying and food (maybe less if you do not like
spending your time in an restaurant) in Oslo.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
As some of you know, Norway is an expensive country, but there are some less
expensive stayings quite central. Remember that taking a taxi is quite
expensive. But first of all how to get here.
AIRPORTS
There are three airport which leads you to Oslo:
Oslo Gardemoen http://www.osl.no/index.asp?languagecode=9 this airport is
closest to Oslo, the flight train takes you here in 23 minutes.
Rygge airport is 45 minutes with train away from Oslo.
Torp airport - not recommended - a long travel in a bus.
